friends alas enemies

There is a huge story behind this pic, and I'll give you the condensed version.

On the left you have Penn (who can be found elsewhere in my gallery) She's a goblin mage and has to cast a helluva spell to save Story.

Story is on the right. She's an elf possessed by a negative engery demon-type creature and it's about to be unleashed, and Penn's about to stop that. Story has mixed feelings about this.

That is the horribly abriged version. It's a scene from an AD&D campaign that ended a couple years back. It was a very emotional scene for both characters involved. Penn is casting from a scroll and she was saving the spell for herself. She gave that up for Story's life, much to her dissatisfaction. Story has had this creature inside of her for all of her known life (she only remembers the last year of it) and does not want Penn to banish the creature yet knows that it needs to be done. They aren't very happy with one another right now.

I worked on this picture for about three weeks. The background was half finished when I found out I had the scene in the wrong setting. It's done entirely in OC and is easily the hardest thing I've ever done. There are some little things I see wrong with it, but I'm still really happy with it.

I'm sorry if the image is too large, but I've had to shrink it a LOT from the original size. I'll be uploading closeup version's of both characters because I put too much work into them to lose the small stuff I also wasn't sure if I should stick this in anime or fantasy..but it's more fantasy..I think..
